From the municipal center Gaupne there is a forty kilometer long valley to the north. High mountains rise on both the east and west sides of the valley, but the special thing is that over the west side lies the largest glacier on the European mainland - Jostedalsbreen.
From most of the lateral valleys there may be a sea of glacial arms extending out from the hoof.
Most tourists can head towards Nigardsbreen, where there are guides that can take those who wish to take them on glacier walks. In this area there is also the information center for breans in the area - the Breheim Center, which has something interesting to show off in addition to the fact that you can get food there.
Another beautiful glacier fall - Bergsetbreen - find me in the neighboring valley, Krundalen.
Otherwise, a car can be driven up to a height of almost 1,200 meters by following the valley for all its length. Farthest inside there is a large pond that allows the lake behind it to be regularized up and down a height of 70 meters! Through tunnel vert the water carried to the power station down in the valley.
